When will the book be complete?
The Chosen One Con is still being written at this stage, as funds raised from this crowdfund will be used to pay for the editing required. It’s estimated that this book will be finished spring-summer 2026. Advanced reader copies of the ebook will be sent to ebook backers as soon as it becomes available, with the book going on general sale after. Paperback copies will become available to paperback backers after, and will be shipped before general sale.
I’ll keep backers updated and informed of the book’s progress from the end of the campaign up to the paperbacks release.

When will I receive my reward items?
The eBook and paperback copies of The Chosen One Con will become available and sent to backers when the book is complete, estimated in Spring-Summer 2026. Backers of these will receive their rewards before the book goes on general sale.
Digital rewards will be sent upon the campaign’s completion once the funds have been collected and I have the backers details to send the rewards via email.
Physical rewards such as prints will also be shipped upon the campaign’s completion when the shipping fees have been paid by the backer. You’ll receive an update when these have been shipped with tracking information where applicable. These will be sent separately from the paperback, as the paperback won’t yet be ready. Note that art for stretch goals will be printed and shipped later as these will need to be commissioned.
Please bear shipping costs in mind when backing a tier with physical prints as shipping fees are paid by the backer and may cost more for backers outside of the United Kingdom.

Is shipping available internationally?
Shipping is available internationally for paperbacks and physical rewards such as prints outside of the United Kingdom, where I’m based. Where applicable, paperbacks will be printed and shipped directly from the printer. I will personally ship prints (such as art cards and posters) and include a tracking number if provided. However, please bear in mind that shipping costs are paid for by the backer and may be more expensive for backers outside of the UK.
If you are an international backer, we recommend avoiding the print tiers and choosing digital rewards in order to avoid higher fees associated with shipping, but we will try to ship where possible.
Note: shipping for stretch goals will come later as the art will need to be commissioned first. I’ll keep you updated!

Can I get a signed paperback?
For backers within the United Kingdom, all paperbacks will come signed personally by the author. For backers outside of the UK, paperbacks will be shipped directly from the printer and will instead include a digital signature by the author.

What are the risks and challenges?
This is my first time launching a crowdfund campaign, so I’m expecting there will be lessons to learn along the way. However, as this project is part of The Book Bazaar 2025, their community offers a lot of support and help for newbies like me. They’re a fantastic and friendly bunch and I wouldn’t have made it this far without them.
The biggest challenge we face is getting the paperbacks printed and shipped given the current state of the world and my location based in the United Kingdom, but I’ll keep backers updated on any issues relating to this.

Is AI used to create and market this book?
No AI has been or will be used in the creation or editing of The Chosen One Con, or marketing materials and promotions relating to the campaign. Images relating to promotions have been sourced via online stock art and checked for AI involvement. Character art has been designed by artist Aowna. The book cover art for The Chosen One Con was designed by Bookfly Design. I’ve been working with the same beta readers and editor across my books for the past four years and trust they do not use AI as part of their processes.

What is the LGBTQIA+ representation in this book?
The Chosen One Con is a queer MM book set in a queernormative world and features a range of characters across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. These include:
Max, the first main character and a bisexual male sex worker. Lyle, the second main character, a demisexual man. Hope, the third main character, a trans teenage girl and lesbian. Archie, a young deaf non-binary child. Other gay, lesbian, and non-binary characters.
As the author of this book, I identify as non-binary and demisexual.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
